Planning permission granted to plug the ‘Conham Gap’ at Crews Hole

It’s very good news that the planning application for a cycle route along the Avon Valley through Crews Hole at the ‘Conham Gap’ has now been approved. We were strongly supportive of the proposal as it received a rare ‘five green’ score against our five criteria.

It’s been two years since the last proposal was rejected following angry, misinformed and disappointingly managed meetings where BCyC members felt intimidated for advocating that walking and cycling should be enabled on this important link.

This now leaves the small problem of funding the works. We hope it will form part of the programme for the Cycle City Ambition Fund 2 funding

Crews Hole Consultation

A public meeting is to be held to discuss the Crews Hole Road / Beaufort Rd Traffic Scheme on Wednesday 6 November at 7pm, Woodwise Academy, Crews Hole Rd BS5 8BB. The plans can be viewed at St George Library and hopefully soon on the St George Neighbourhood Partnership website.

This will be a chance to view the proposed changes, listen to the reasons behind the proposals and give your views and suggestions. Importantly for us the scheme will create a one way flow for motor traffic with bicycle contraflow on a narrow section of Crews Hole Road – a crucial link in the proposed Promenade Route along the Avon to Keynsham.

If you can’t make this meeting, you can view and discuss this scheme at the Traffic and Transport meeting on Tuesday 26th November 7pm at the Beehive Centre, 19a Stretford Rd, St George BS5 7AW.

More information from Abdulrazak Dahir, Area Co-Ordinator, St George Neighbourhood Partnership (0117 903 6409).
