On Saturday 31 August BCyC got together with the Bristol Beekeepers to promote the Bee and Pollination Festival at the Botanical Gardens (taking place the following weekend 7 & 8 September).

‘Queen bee’ Sue Carter assembled her ‘workers’ at the Water Tower on Durdham Down before buzzing off to the Botanical Gardens and then on to the city centre via Clifton Village. Led by ‘beekeeper’ Martin Tweddell, towing a miniature beehive on a bike trailer, the swarm proceeded to hand out leaflets to a slightly bemused but entertained public.

The busy bees were later rewarded with lashings of nectar (aka ginger beer) on a picnic on the Downs along with Sue’s famous pakoras.
