REPORT: Not the driest of Sundays, but 3-strong and armed with shears, secateurs and flapjack Reg, Terry and MartinT followed the route of NCN3, the Whitchurch Way. The usual hot spots were there: glass under St Philips Causeway, overhanging branches and aggressive looking brambles on the railway path section of the route, but all in all the path has been kept in pretty good condition. Still it was worth having a go at the brambles and branches which although not quite blocking the path, soon will be if left unchecked. The least well maintained section was between Craydon Grove in Stockwood and Stuanton Lane (leading to Horse World), interestingly coming as it does under the jurisdiction of Bath & North East Somerset council. Here the sides of the path have not been swept for some considerable time and ivy, brambles, dead leaves and dirt were all threatening to narrow the path. We did our best to clear what we could, but really this needs a proper rotary machine, as used by the council street sweepers. Hence Fill That Hole have been duly informed.
START: 10:00am Arnolfini
DESCRIPTION: Do you have problems with an overgrown cycle path? Yes? Then come on October’s TLC ride, we could help you sort it out. Armed with (hand) tools to tackle unruly hedgerows and with flapjacks to keep us going this ride should be both rewarding and satisfying. Bring brushes, secateurs, sturdy gloves, bin bags and plenty of enthusiasm to go in search of unloved stretches of cycle path. Lets make a difference! Flapjacks supplied, but bring plenty of water – this could be thirsty work.
