We are appalled at the frequency and level of violence of attacks on the Bristol to Bath Railway Path this winter. BCyC members have been actively working with stakeholders discussing long term options to improve safety. One aspect has been to learn from other similar paths with similar challenges around the country.
The Facebook group Bristol & Bath Railway Path – OnePath is very helpful, but we have also formed a small working group with representatives from the Bristol Walking Alliance and local running clubs to look at how we can work towards a long term solution to reduce crime on the path. If you would like to join this working group please Contact Us.
In January a survey was carried out to capture the opinion of users of the path. With over 1000 responses this has provided a significant amount of data to provide to the council and police. Thank you to all that responded.
It’s good to see that work has started this week (15/2/2021) on the first stage of some improvements. There are signed closures and diversions on affected sections and the diversions will last for up to two weeks. The works form part of Sustrans’ One Path: BS5 project.
There is an excellent article in The Bristol Cable about the current issues.
